I received a phone call yesterday for a continuity job in South Wales. I’m going to be away for the next month working but will still be blogging and online. I’ve just bought a rucksack/suitcase bag (it’s pretty cool), as well as a bunch of other stuff I’ll need for the next month and I’ve had to order a laptop to be delivered for Saturday (due to be delivered just before I have to leave).

I haven’t had time to read the script yet but I am going to read it several times tonight and tomorrow and during the 5hr train journey on Saturday (I still can’t drive or afford a car). I always seem to get jobs only a few days before I start I never get enough preparation time. I was planning on getting a part time bar job this month but I’ve been lucky. I guess looking and applying for jobs every single day helps with luck!

As a result my short film ‘Feather’ will have to wait to be completed by the end of June instead of May. This will also give me and my Music Composer more time with sound and music; I’d rather not rush the film in anyway at all so I’m sorry that anyone waiting to see it will have to wait a bit longer.

I haven’t been on a feature film set in a while so I’m pretty excited.

I just got a new web cam and I’ve been trying to take the perfect photo of me for the web. I find it very difficult, I don’t seem to be brave enough to show pictures of me to the world yet but I guess I’ll just have to do it! New photo updates and I now have short blue hair.

As part of my University course I had to do a Photography module. We had the freedom to choose any subject we wanted and submit 30 photos that fit around that subject. I choose street photography. I don’t think I cared about any of my modules as much as I did film drama; since this is what I want to do and went to University to study for in the first place. I have no idea what degree I should expect to get, I m hoping for at least a 2:2 (C) but a 2:1 (B) would be great, guess I’ll just have to find out later next month…not that I feel it matters much in film making what mark I get either way. Here are my final 30 photos -

I was on a set the past three days up in Manchester doing Continuity for a short film. It was good to get more experience on a set. I haven’t done continuity on a set for 10 months now since I had lots of University work this year.   It’s good to get back into it all and meet new people. The plan is to be able to be a full time freelancer from doing continuity by this time next year.

Another section of my University course was to make a short stop frame animation film. I was so busy focusing on the drama I have to admit it that I did leave the animation to last minute. It didn’t turn out great, and was rushed in the edit. I’ll probably be having another look at it next week; just a little experiment with stop frame and me.

I enjoyed working with the Stop frame but I would much rather work with real people. I spent most of my time alone in my blacked out room moving monster puppets about, it drove me a little bit insane.

Tao Wignall who also had a part in my drama Feather starred in the short. Some screen grabs from the film can be seen below…

I’ve completed a version of the film for Uni deadlines but I’m still going to be working on Feather this month. The film has been fully colour corrected with After Effects (some examples of the difference this has made can be seen below) I still need to get the sound design sorted and may need more work on the music. All in all I’m going to have a good look over the whole film and get it up to shape and ready for festivals this month…
