Ah well. A 2:2 (around a C grade) will be OK. I have a feeling that getting a University degree will make no difference in my chosen career. However it has given me 3 years to think about what I want to do and stopped me from getting a normal full time job.

  • For my Film drama (my film Feather) I got a – B+
  • For my World Cinema Exam I got a – C+
  • For my Animation I got a – E
  • For my Photography I got a C

All pretty OK apart from that random- E -I’m going to but my animation online at some point too next month. Now I’m at that scary place after University where you’ve got to decided what to with your life.  I’ll just see what happens,

Another section of my University course was to make a short stop frame animation film. I was so busy focusing on the drama I have to admit it that I did leave the animation to last minute. It didn’t turn out great, and was rushed in the edit. I’ll probably be having another look at it next week; just a little experiment with stop frame and me.

I enjoyed working with the Stop frame but I would much rather work with real people. I spent most of my time alone in my blacked out room moving monster puppets about, it drove me a little bit insane.

Tao Wignall who also had a part in my drama Feather starred in the short. Some screen grabs from the film can be seen below…

I’ve been trying to make a model puppet for my stop frame animation ‘The Monster’s under my bed’ for the past week. I’m using hollow polystyrene eggs. The idea was to make a fully movable model but it failed since polystyrene is so fragile and the hinge on the monsters jaw which I stuck on with pins made holes in the side of the monsters face; which soon collapsed,) No worries it’s just a test to see what material’s work. I’m going to make the animation around the middle of March.

I’m planning to shoot at least the live action scenes within my animation in February. I’ve done some basic storyboards (once again I’m not a graphic designer there just quick sketches to give me an idea of how things will look on screen).

These are some starter designs for the monsters that will be in my stop frame animation film I’m making next month. First thing I’m not a Graphic Designer!  I’ve just sketched some basic pictures, painted them in Photoshop and hoped for the best.) I’m better at making 3D models than drawing which is what these monsters will end up being…
